Assessing and Addressing the Needs of Sexually Exploited And Trafficked Youth
Sexual exploitation and trafficking is a challenging, widespread issue that many child and youth serving organizations inclusive of large child welfare and juvenile justice agencies throughout the United States are contending with. Agencies across our nation have proven a strong commitment to addressing the sexual exploitation and trafficking threatening the children that we as practitioners aim to protect, serve and heal every day. To that end, we have developed I AM: Assessing and Addressing the Needs of Sexually Exploited and Trafficked Youth™©. A unique three-tiered approach to helping end the sale of our children and rescuing those in dire need. This three-tiered model of response and training series includes:
Tier I: Raising Awareness
Tier II: Building Capacity
Tier III: Achieving Permanency
The model can be implemented using all three tiers or by using the tier that best fits agency need and current status of local and state efforts to address the issue. All partnerships begin with an I AM staff consultation to ensure that the model design selected meets the need of your agency.
Assessing and Addressing the Needs of Gang Involved Youth
Youth who are involved within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems are at a greater risk for gang involvement and are exposed to a range of issues from complex trauma exposure in both the home and community to large systemic barriers placed before them due to race or socioeconomic status. In order to raise awareness of the plight of many of our gang involved youth who are often seen as criminals versus youth who are in dire need of help we have developed the I AM: Assessing and Addressing the Needs of Gang Involved Youth™© to help youth serving organizations move beyond gang identification and into action. This three-tiered model of response and training series includes:
Tier I: Identification and Understanding
Introduction to Gang Involved Youth and Gang Identification
Tier II: Building Capacity
Gang Involved Youth Screening and Assessment Tool
I AM: Engaging Youth and Families Impacted by Gang Influence and Involvement
Tier III: Achieving Permanency
I AM: Case Planning for Permanency Model for Gang Involved Youth
The model can be implemented using all three tiers or by using the tier that best fits agency need and current status of local and state efforts to address the issue.
Our gang identification training will include consultation with local law enforcement and juvenile justice practitioners to best educate on local, current issues.
